Emily Manwaring When Leaves Hit the Pavement

There’s a delicacy in the way we embrace love upon each other. The moments that make up a way to one’s heart physically, mentally or emotionally impact the way in which we live our everyday lives. It’s automatic. It’s a given. We look all the time at the people and places that make up a reality in which love isn’t as apparent physically, as it is mentally. But, there’s a swaying movement back and forth of the way in which we embrace. It can be shown in many different forms but once shown, it settles. It falls into place and establishes its significance. That same movement and settling is when a leaf hits the pavement. To descend ever so gently, spinning, twirling, back, and forth. To then settle and plant itself in solidification. These works are a visual representation of that movement and solicitation of embrace, love, and warmth.
